Thank you Katherine Kubler for your documentary. I went to Ivy Ridge in October 2004, I was 14. As soon I got there I knew I had to get out, but I didn’t know how. I couldn’t run, I remember being frustrated that I could even throw myself over the stairwell because they had bars that prevented it. I started cheeking the medication I was being given and saved it up so that I could overdose. All I wanted was to get out. I definitely DID NOT want to die but I was willing to do whatever it took to get out of there.
One night I did it, I took all the saved up medication and I got violently sick and they took me to the hospital and I escaped Ivy Ridge (only to go to several more programs, all of which were far less horrible than Ivy Ridge).
At Ivy Ridge there was a girl in my room named Sam or Samantha that was kind to me and even though we couldn’t talk I could tell that she was looking out for me. Thank you Sam, and thank you Kathrine for your documentary.
