Maple Lake Academy emotionally, verbally and physically abused me for almost a year. My therapist would share information about me without my consent. Almost all of the staff there are undergraduate college students who don’t know what they’re doing but are still allowed to put us in physical restraints. I was only in a restraint once but the memory still haunts me. They told me the only way out was to calm down but I don’t understand how you can calm down when multiple people are holding you to the ground. A therapist there told me that one day I would be raped and killed, using those exact words.
The people running this place and others like it need to be persecuted for their actions. They stripped me of my basic human rights and my dignity. This needs to end.
