My parents thought Utah was a rehab and Paradise Cove was an elite school.
My memories of Paradise Cove was like a concentration camp. It was literally 8 to 9 huts surrounded with barb wire fences. In the morning they gave us crackers jam and skim milk. Lunch was half a loaf of bread and ramen with hot water or Tuna and half a loaf of bread. Dinner was a piece of chicken that was half cooked. If u poked it with a fork u can still see blood inside. Sometimes they gave us Samoan sausage which nobody really touched unless they were really hungry. Kids really starved there and suffered from malnutrition. The mosquiotos were so bad, kids would scratch until they bled. During the day they would make the kids run laps until they passed out and vomited on the floor. I remember there was this room called the iso room where they would hog tie the kids and put them in there where they could barely fit. That place was any kids nightmare. They made you go through seminars and if u passed them they sent u to the beach. There was really no education there. You got to read whatever books they had there and kids usually wound up in the dungeon they called and had to listen to tapes and answer questions. They never allowed the kids to call their parents. Only letters which they probably never sent to the parents. They made fortunes sending kids there. When u eventually reach level 4. They allow u to watch over the lower level kids and buy you pizza once in awhile. You get to swim at the beach and they let u watch movies once a week.
There was no real education and many kids had to grit their teeth and follow the program just to go home. I saw so many kids break down in tears there.
I wish I can sue those guys.
