I was dropped off at Horizon Academy April 2008 at the age of 15. Dring my 21 months there I suffered medical neglect and emotional abuse. During my first two months there I was denied medical treatment because the staff members believed I was “faking it”. As a result I developed toxic shock syndrome. As an adolescent female I suffered very painful and diffcult menstrual cycles however I was still required to do the day to day tasks. I would be curled up in a ball on the floor, in tears and still expected to do my daily chores and participate in activities and told by several male staff members that I was over reacting and seeking attention. This program was an atrocity and I am so grateful that it was closed down.

About WWASP Survivors
WWASP Survivors is run by a dedicated group of concerned alumni of WWASP-affiliated programs.
Our mission is threefold:
Raise awareness of the true nature of WWASP Programs, to advocate for those still being held in “Troubled Teen” programs, and to provide validation and support to survivors of WWASP programs.
