I said some things out of complete exhaustion while I was talking to a counselor and all she had to do is sign some papers and then all my freedom was gone. I was breastfeeding my baby in the hospital when they had a police officer come and take me away! My baby is only 4 weeks old! He put me in the police car and brought me to this place and I will never forget how I was treated when I got here. I tried to explain to the staff what was going on and that I was separated from my baby but there was no compassion whatsoever! I was stripped naked and trying my hardest not to freak out because I knew it would make things worse. I told the staff that I was breastfeeding and should be allowed to breastfeed my baby because that is my right as a mother and as a woman but they don’t care about your rights or about how you feel. They told me that I could pump but every single time that I had to go up to that desk! They asked me “do you have to do it right now?” They didn’t care that I was in pain and needed to pump because “Going to group is very important.” I already knew everything that the groups were supposed to be teaching us because life already taught me those things! I would have to wait for an hour just to pump when they were “busy”. I was straight up ignored by some of nurses even when it was obvious that that heard and saw me. My 200 dollar breast pump stopped working while I was there and I was in pain and it would’ve really been great if I had been allowed to nurse my baby since we live close to the facility and it would’ve relieved a lot of pain but the nurse in charge told me to call my husband and tell him to get a new pump! Not everyone has that kind of money! The cheapest pump is the manual one and that’s still like 40! He has to go and buy a freaking 40 dollar pump and bring it to me. I’m so thankful that I ended up with a large group of patients who were really awesome and always stood up for each other because I don’t think I would’ve been able to handle all that shit if it wasn’t for them. A small handful of nurses were kind but the ones in charge were terrible and I tried my very best to get names but they had their name tags flipped so you couldn’t read their names! The only thing that was great about this place was because the patients were awesome people. The food is terrible for your body and you never get sunlight because they only let you outside when you go to the disgusting cafeteria. People who have depression and mental health problems should get fresh air and see the sunlight and eat real food that will actually be beneficial to their mental and physical wellbeing. I came out feeling so weird and now I’m doing my best to cope with the trauma of being sent to this place. I was not diagnosed with anything and was not on any medication and that was a good reason not to keep me there for five days because I was mentally stable and very healthy. I also lost a lot of weight while I was there because I was 130 when I went in and 120 when I came out. This was a review I left on the website for a private mental facility in South Carolina that I was place in.
