Declarative Statement
I was at Cross Creek when I was 15 years old. I had tried a little pot and had sex. I had problems at home with my family and my parents felt out of control and didn’t know what to do, so they sent me to Cross Creek Manor.
here are some of the things that happened to me while I was there:
emotional and psychological abuse. Mostly in group therapy, private therapy, and in the seminars.
we were not allowed to talk to our parents for about two to four months.when we were allowed to speak to our parents, it was on the phone with our therapist in the same room. You could not speak about the bad things that were happening to you becauseyou would drop in your levels.
we were also not allowed to tell our parents anything that happened to us in the seminars. We were not allowed to talk to them about it until they have gone through the seminars as well, which was a deluded version of what we had to go through.
in the seminars, grown men would get into the faces of young men and women in order to break them. We were encouraged to share our most intimate and dark secrets with a group of 50 plus people, who would then give us”feedback”.this supposedly feedback was really just everyone standing up and taking turns tearing you down as a person. They do this to try to break your belief system. To separate you from thinking freely and having original ideas. This is the first step of the brain washing process. They use a technique called corsets persuasion, which was used in China on prisoners of war.
the ideas and practices in the seminar continued on in daily life at the program. The bullying we experienced and we’re taught to do to each other continued outside of the seminars in group therapy. We would share our experiences of the other girls in our group and give them feedback. It was again just another way to break us down and make us feel bad about ourselves. whether or not you had serious problems before the program or not everyone was treated as if it were the worst kid on the planet. We were called liars, even if we were telling the truth. I remember to admitting to things that I never even done while I was there, just so that my therapist and my group would believe that I was “working” the program. I did that is only because I wanted to get out so very badly.
Cross Creektold our parents not to believe us if we said that we were being abused or mistreated. They told them that we were just trying to manipulate them into bringing us home. We cannot call the cops or CPS. There was no one who would listen to us or believe us even if we tried.bottom line, no one at these programs is protecting the children there.
I also fell behind in school while I was there. There were no teachers. only a single tutor for about 15 to 20 girls in each class. We were given a book, told to read chapters, and then take a test. We could ask the tutor for help if we needed it. I struggled with math there because I really needed an actual teacher teaching class. I never finished any of my high school math classes while at Cross Creek.
I’ve been out of the program for 10 years. Is taking a long time for me to recover from the brainwashing that place does to you.it‘s time for me to speak out so that what happens to me doesn’t happen to anyone else. Parents, please listen!
do not send your children to Cross Creek or any other wwasp program.I have issues to this day because of that place. if your child has low self esteem you can guarantee they will have no self esteem by the time they come home. They will not I know how to function socially. They will probably resent you for putting them in a cult. That’s what Cross Creek is, a cult.
I give WWASPSurvivors permission to use this statement. I declare under penalty of perjury that the foregoing is true and correct. Executed on(date: MM/DD/YY):
