I have no body to blame but myself for having to be in therapeutic centers. I chose to not cope well and not ask for help when i needed it. But when you are sent to one for the help lacked and are now are trying to receive. It seems as though you should be treated well during your stay. I had some good moments at the facility but there where horrible moments that are unforgettable. I went there in 2016 after i had left my other program and was in the hospital for awhile i needed an evaluation and high level care.So i was sent to the center and the first thing they did have me do is a strip search. I go into a stall in the bathroom and i give them my clothes and they do a skin check. Coming from places where that was not done I was horrified and did not feel safe doing that. Second they gave me a lice shampooing which is required for every patient that come to the facility. Once you are done you are put in one of the rooms that therapy is done in and you do a search of all your belongings. I had a good first few weeks but I suffer with PIKA and its a compulsion to eat none nutrient items. And the first few weeks I had done well not doing it and then it got the best of me.They where not very understanding of my issue along with PIKA i restricted my food a lot.So a lot of the time I would feel cold or tired they figured when she is hungry she will eat. Not the case. After a few times of struggling with my PIKA and them trying to maintain it they went from 0-100 really quick. They made me be put into to scrubs and I could not have any thing besides the scrubs and I was to sit at the end of the hallway and not speak to anyone. and it was cold and I already am cold so it became so bad that I cried and begged them to give me something to keep warm even if it was just a towel. But the staff where even told to ignore me and only speak if i was harming myself or had a medical emergency. I was given baby spoons to eat with and they even thought that those where a risk for me to ingest so they made me eat with a big serving spoon. I eventually got to a point that they felt good about me being safe and let me go back in the group. I had done well again and i thought good i am gonna get out soon. I had another relapse but this time it was even worse for me. They put me in the isolation room and kept the door open but they had a staff sit in front of the door so i couldn’t get out so might as well just shut the door.I was given a bare mattress and that was it! and I stayed in that isolation room for probably a good 2 weeks. I am fairly certain I only got to do hygiene once a week. But time made it blend together so i am not sure. They would make me shower with the curtain open and would put a towel in front of me when i needed to wash intimate areas. No deodorant, no teeth brushing or anything just the wash and that was it. finally they started to let me come out in sections but they made me wear a face mask and i could not grab anything touch anything and my hands had to be together in eyesight of the staff. So again it wasn’t even worth it and i should have just stayed in isolation. Finally they decided to put me in a single bedroom and I could not leave that room unless everyone was in group and they had swept the area from potential risks. I felt so alone and like i was some kind of monster. I felt like I couldn’t be me even on my good days i still felt like i had been treated like an animal and i was over it. I finally called everyone out who where either staff or therapist saying that they are only causing more TRUAMA for me and not any help. I got my act together soon after that. FAKE IT TILL YOU MAKE IT. and I was so happy the day they told me I was discharged I was like goodbye forever never will i return to this place and be treated in this way again but later on I returned and It was the same bullshit all over. I am not trying to tell you what to do send your kids there by all means there a good fit possibly for your child but just know this could happen to them and I would never wish that on anyone.
